Digital Library Consortia: Strategy of Sustainable Way to Libraries of Non-governmental Universities in China

摘要

Since its reform and opening up, non-governmental universities appeared in China have rapidly developed. Each non-governmental university has a library which is an important part of it. As a whole, the condition is weaker than the libraries of public university. Facing such situation, how do the non-governmental university libraries realize their sustainable development? After doing some analyses and investigation on the formation, technology, and foundation of digital library consortia the authors have proposed establishing a digital library consortium of non-governmental universities for solving the library resource sharing, the document guarantee and the fund shortage. In order to overcome the difficulties that the libraries face in construction and development process, tactics of cooperation of funds, resources, talents and technologies have been put forward as well in this work. It might improve the competitive power of the libraries and the digital library consortia should be a strategy of sustainable development to non-governmental university libraries in China.
