This study developed a 4 channel wireless data logger adopting transducers of electromyography (EMG), electrocardiograph (EKG), and accelerometer for field measurement of biosignals. The logger weights 102g (includes battery) and can continually acquire 4 channels of 16-bit analog signals as well as a digital signal at a rate of 1000 Hz per channel. The acquired data are saved on a MicroSD memory card for future analysis. Meanwhile, the logger utilizes a ZigBee transceiver module to send acquired data to a remote receiver. The logger can run for over 6 consecutive hours at full load when powered by two 860 mAh batteries. A remote receiver unit, connected to a PC or a laptop by USB interface, was controlled by Window-based monitoring software to communicate with the logger. The monitoring software, programmed by Borland C++ Builder, was developed to operate the logger and to monitor real-time data sending from the logger. Three laboratory experiments and a prolonged field test were performed to test feasibility of the logger. The experimental results demonstrated the system is reliable and feasible for field measurement of physical workload for an extended period of time.
