The PRAT is an original experience, to be continued, of a collective project held by the industries federation (FIEP) of Parana state in Brazil. The main objective was to increase the worker health and safety, but how to respond in an industry that haven't this priority before and have a feeble culture and experience in this field? In order to manage the project the team takes profit of foreign experiences such as Canada, France, US. The deals were to use international approached, methods and knowledge but also to adapt it to the Brazilian enterprise context, and culture, and to transform the case studies on a generic methodology that could be applied in general branches of industry and to complete the methodology in order to propose a “PRAT product package” that consulting enterprise could adopt and could be certifying to used it. In the paper we will develop pragmatic and academic aspects of this project. Beside the well know ergonomics methods, we will formalised the role of the institutional point of view (EU in particular); the cultural factors knowledge in order to identify what cultural treats could be relevant to adapt methodologies, tools, and realisation to the Brazilian reality; and we will end by the long way starting from the engine protection to a health and safety prevention politic.
