Geographic Information Systems have a wide field of application in any activity that involves a spatial component. In Argentina, since the entry into force of the Regulatory Framework for the electric power distribution system, particularly in the province of Buenos Aires, these tools are essential to meet the requested information requirements. It is becoming more common for electricity distribution companies to use this type of system to manage all the information concerning the activity.Distribution network analysis software, in general, are not associated with geographic information tools, they go their separate ways, and in cases where both options are available, the amount of calculations, management procedures or consultation offered is not enough. In this work a link between two tools is put into practice, one is related to the analysis of electrical networks, and the other is recognized in Geographic Information Systems. As an example, we take the urban distribution network of the Balcarce city, Buenos Aires province, Argentina., managed by a GIS system developed by this research group and linked to a model loaded in analysis software to optimize it through a an algorithm also developed by this group, minimizing losses due to the Joule effect. Along with the optimization process, the exchange of information between both platforms occurs, significantly e nhancing g eographic i nformation b y a dding new information resulting from the analysis.
