Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) composite magnetite nanoparticles were synthesized by co-precipitation method. The crystalline, structural, thermal and magnetic properties of PVA composite magnetite nanoparticles were characterized using XRD, TEM, FTIR, TGA and VSM analytical techniques. The average particle size of prepared pure magnetite and PVA-magnetite nanocomposite were determined through XRD technique and found to be below 20 and 17 nm respectively which was further confirmed in TEM imaging. The functional compositions and formation of PVA-magnetite composite were confirmed by FTIR analysis. Thermal properties and extent of PVA in the composite nanoparticles were evaluated using thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA). VSM studies have shown that magnetite and PVA-magnetite composite nanoparticles exhibit super paramagnetic behavior at room temperature with saturation magnetization value of 60.21 emu/g, 47.22 emu/g respectively.
