Wavelet-Based Compression of CFD Big Data

摘要

A new approach for compression of CFD data is presented, inspired by image processing. It uses wavelet decom- position and subsequent range coding with quantization suitable for oating-point data. The electiveness of this method is demonstrated by applying it to the velocity eld of a turbulent vortex ow past a cylinder.
