A wave motion alert system which can predict future waves and thus reduce maritime operational risks is an important technology for offshore operations. To improve the safety and efficiency of maritime works, we proposed the wave prediction system Wave on Demand (WOD). The flow of wave forecasting by the system is as follows; a) measuring multi points wave height data at multiple points using by drones, b) transmitting the data to a base station with wireless communication and c) predicting time series wave elevation at a target point using the measured data. The main purpose of this paper is to discuss the usefulness of this system through wave prediction and wireless communication tests at a wave tank and in actual sea conditions. Through experiments, we confirm the feasibility of WOD from both the algorithmic side and operational side. In addition to these test, we propose another simpler wave prediction model based on neural networks. As a result of numerical simulation, we conclude that a neural network model is also practical.
