In this paper we proposed optimum length of an antenna with improved microstrip patch design employed with meander line structure with intended application of WLAN band operating at 2.42 GHz. The Meander antenna is the advanced version of the basic folded antenna and having higher radiating efficiency than the previous one. This antenna structure is electrically small. The compactness of a meander antenna array is affected by the mutual coupling between radiation elements, which degrades the array performances in terms of isolation capability, return loss, radiation efficiency, and impedance match. A two-port compact microstrip antenna array, with stepped ground structure is presented here to improve the isolation. This antenna is constructed using FR4 substrate. After simulation with CST software the performance of the proposed designed antenna is investigated and compared with both the structures. An improvement of 1.69dB in coupling loss (S21) and 3.88dB in return loss (S11)are achieved.
