In this paper several optimization strategies for decision making in presence of uncertainties and discreet number of alternatives are considered. A new optimization criterion is proposed and applied for all strategies. In order to illustrate the decision making process, assembly of a mechanical device - hydraulic gear pump is investigated. All optimization strategies are applied, evaluated, compared and analysed for it before a final decision regarding the technology selection is reached. As a main optimization criterion it is proposed to be used minimum combined cost of the required labour and necessary equipment. In this case study the uncertain parameters are: volume of production and margin of the salaries. The goal is to improve on working conditions and to consider the number of employs. This is done according to the social trends of the strategy "Europe 2020".
