In this paper, we provide a multiband impulse radio ultra wideband (MB-IR-UWB) system based on multi input and multi output (MIMO), the 1b/NtA, in which different signals modulated by one subband pulse are transmitted simultaneously from different transmit antennas. The 1b/NtA can enlarge the channel capacity, flexibly use spectrum and show potential to acquire space-time frequency diversity gain and multiplexing gain. In order to eliminate the multi-stream interference (MSI), same frequency interference (SFI), the time reversal (TR) technique is adopted. Through the comparison with two contrasting systems, the performance of the 1b/NtA is presented. Simulation is based on the BER performance of the three systems over the multipath channel CM3 proposed by IEEE 802.15.3a without ISI. The simulation results give the BER performance comparison of the three mentioned systems, and give the influence of various parameters on the BER performance of the 1b/NtA.
