In this paper, a methodology for partial field decomposition is presented that is based on the beamforming algorithm for the application of acoustical holography to the composite sound field generated by multiple incoherent sound sources. The unique aspect of the method is the use of the estimated source signals identified via beamforming as the reference sources in the decomposition procedure. The experimental results show that the method identifies the sources very effectively regardless of the distance from source to reference and also has potential to be used for distributed sources.
