An approach to noise impact assessment for long term construction

Noise generated by construction is an issue which is typically addressed during environmental assessments for a project. If construction activities required for the project are of a short duration, a qualitative assessment is typically sufficient to address the environmental noise issues. For some projects, construction may extend longer to become a more long term noise problem – especially when the construction activity lasts months or even years. For long term construction projects, a quantitative approach to addressing the construction noise impact for environmental assessments is required. This paper proposes an approach to assessing the construction noise impact from long term construction projects.
