1.Introduction A downburst is significantly created by an area of rain-cooled air that, after reaching ground level, spreads out in all directions and is capable of producing damaging straight-line winds over 240 km h-1.Downbursts begin as small powerful downdrafts, typically inside thunderstorms that descend from 3000 to 6000 m above ground level. When these cold downward rushes of air reach the ground, they create a locally intense divergent wind shear that is very shallow.
