This study explores, for the first time, the asymmetric distribution of precipitation in TCs making landfall along east China coast using reflectivity data collected from coastal Doppler radars at mainland China and Taiwan.Six TCs (Saomai,Khanun,Wipha,Matsa,Rananim and Krosa)that made landfall over Zhejiang Province from 2004 to 2007 have been selected as cases to examine the temporal and spatial changes of the precipitation asymmetry before and after landfall. The differences of the precipitation asymmetry in the inner-core and outer-core region are further investigated.Different from the previous studies that usually take a fixed radius (100 km) as the boundary of inner-core,this study adopts a size dependent approach to identify the radius of inner-core region for each TC.
