Seed dimorphism and size-dependent reproductive output of Petroslmonla slblrlca

Petrosimonia sibirica (Chenopodiaceae) is a herbaceous annual species, which distributes in Central Asia, Kazakhstan, Siberia, Mongolia etc. Field observation showed that P. sibirica had different sized individuals and had two types of seeds. In thispaper, the germination behaviors of two types of seeds and size-dependent fruit pattern variation of P. sibirica were studied to reveal the relationship between the individual size variation and reproductive output, and to provide a basis for understanding the ecological adaptive mechanism of phenotypic plasticity and fruit polymorphism in the desert condition.
