Any casting is important in wireless sensor and ad hoc networks as well as in other information networks. This paper presents a highly reliable any cast protocol for sensor and ad hoc networks, employing a metric that reflects the connectivity of a route. To evaluate the connectivity, each receiver node distributes measurement packets by flooding. The connectivity between receiver nodes and adjacent nodes is then found by the number of received measurement packets. Using this connectivity metric and the hop distance, a node evaluates the goodness of each adjacent node. The routing is executed based on this goodness metric. The effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed by computer simulations.
