This paper proposes a new and rare technique for identifying the most suitable locations for Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) devices installation by means of stability index tracing technique. A load tracing algorithm concerning stability index has been developed and the index to be traced via the developed algorithm is Fast Voltage Stability Index (FVSI), and hence is termed as FVSI-LT. Experiment on IEEE 30-bus reliability test system (RTS) justifies the reliability of the proposed method for real system applications concerning voltage stability improvement. Moreover, a newly developed hybrid optimization algorithm; Blended Crossover Continuous Ant Colony Optimization (BX-CACO), has also been proposed in which the algorithm reflects a tremendous behavior during the optimization process in terms of computation time and optimal solution.
