A three Cd2+ treatments field experiment was conducted with two different Cd2+ tolerance wheat cultivars to investigate effects of cadmium on soluble sugar content in flag leaves and grains, starch and its components in grain of wheat. The results indicated that there was no difference among the changing tendency of soluble sugar content in flag leaves and grains and starch and its components in grains during filling stage treated by different Cd2+ concentrations. However, each index in the same cultivar was different due to different Cd2+ treatments. In the low Cd2+ concentration all indexes in Xinmai21 and aikang58 were increased except soluble sugar contents in grains of aikang58. But in the high Cd2+ concentration all indexes in two cultivars got reduced on different degrees, especially aikang58 (except soluble sugar content in flag leaves). During the grain filling stage, the change of the ratio of amylose and amylopectin content in two cultivars in different Cd2+ concentrations varied as “up- down- up”, except the change of ratio of amylose and amylopectin content in Xinmai21 showed “up- down” in high Cd2+ concentration. Compared to control's, the average ratios of amylose and amylopectin content in Xinmai21 treated by low and high Cd2+ concentrations were increased, on the contrary, which in aikang58 were reduced.
