Study on Traditional Stone Villages in West Hunan – Village of Lahaoyingpan as Example

Stone villages in west Hunan have formed because of military purpose and historical reasons in ancient China and have transformed and existed till now. They are studied in this paper in the aspects of organic spatial layouts, characteristics of military camp, stone constructions, building structure and ethnic fusion of culture, with the village of Lahaoyingpan in Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture of Miao and Tujia Minorities as an example. The study on traditional stone villages in west Hunan is significant to the cultural, technical, and ecological sustainable development of the region and the world of today.
