New ROV Technologies to Penetrate the USS Arizona

The National Park Service (NPS) assumed management of the USS Arizona Memorial in 1980. The 608ft battleship resting in Pearl Harbor represents the nations premier Naval memorial honoring both the Dec 7, 1941 Japanese attack on the United States and the single greatest loss of life aboard a ship in US military history. The site is closed to all non-official, or recreational diving, and the NPS prohibits any diving within the ship out of respect for the nearly 1000 sailors and marines still entombed within the hull.
