INTEGRATION OF ARTIFICIAL LIGHT IN URBAN SPACES AS A MATTER OF URBAN PLANNING

Talking about the city leads frequently to different concepts. Each day we see its morphological constellations that are compounded by architecture and other urban elements. But the city is much more than a simple addition of material objects in which social relations happen. The city is a complex social fact that expresses itself in a spatial way. My research addresses urban spaces and the integration of lighting concepts. It scrutinizes methodologies of planning practice and instruments that lead to an integration of light in the urban system (e.g. Lighting Master Plan). In that way I'm searching for proven criteria that we should apply to create a whole city with light and to integrate light in the urban systems. The concept of city in this research refers to the whole system and everything that is related to that system in a cultural, social, economical and ecological as well as in a morphological way.
