The aqueduct is substantial water distribution building in the South-to-North Water Diversion Project. Especially U-shaped aqueduct is superior structure form according to water conditions, which is extensively used in the large-scale water transfer process. The static analysis of aqueduct has been more perfect at home and abroad currently. But the literature whose main objective is the analysis of the dynamic characteristics concentrated on the seismic and wind load is rare. During the process of research focused on the dynamic characteristics, there exist some problems unsolved which contain the model establishment, the analysis of fluid-structure coupling system and the analysis of dynamic response. At the first part, this paper discusses several domestic and foreign model establishment methods of surging wave of water comparatively which include the additional mass method, Housner method and ALE method, and analyzes the trait and applicability of those methods. Then it introduces the method of simulating wind field to elicit the model establishment method of wind-aqueduct-fluid coupling system and proposes to develop the research of its wind-resistant dynamic traits based on the seismic analysis method of fluid-structure coupling system for U-shaped aqueduct. The study of vibration mechanism which is about fluid-structure coupling system for aqueduct contributes to realize its workable and load-bearing characteristics of aqueduct structure in-depth, providing theoretical basis and technical support in the nationwide promotion of aqueduct.
