INUNDATION MAPPING: THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY

摘要

This paper offers some tips for preparing effective, dam-failure inundation maps. The paper also provides a brief review of the evolution of inundation mapping techniques from hand drafted maps to modern maps prepared using GIS methods. The authors also discuss some of the pros and cons of commonly used computer models used to develop inundation maps. The paper also provides examples of simple and complex inundation maps to illustrate our recommendations.
