Thermal fragmentation of Jixi bituminous coal was analyzed by using a bench-scaled fixed bed. The results show specific characteristics of fragmentation during pyrolysis at 750-850°C. Raising temperature favors increasing the fragmentation ratio (N_f) and the fragmentation index (S_f), while hardly benefits the primary fragmentation rate (P_f) going up. With particles increasing, Particles of 6-8mm only embody in N_f growing, but decreasing in P_f and S_f at 800°C.
