Classic emulsion explosives principally did not included any solid components. The only exception was emulsion explosive sensitized by the addition of microspheres or pearlite. However, Low Water Composition (LWC) emulsion explosives, developed a few years ago, contain some solid additives in their structure - granular ammonium nitrate or/and aluminum powder. There is a specific structure formed inside, containing both ideal and non-ideal explosives. We measured detonation parameters of emulsion explosives containing high energetic additives such as double base propellant. Determined detonation parameters included working capacity (intensity of blast waves) and velocity of detonation. We compared the influence of double base propellant additive on blast waves parameters for different ammonium nitrate explosives -ANFO, ammonals (mixtures of crystalline ammonium nitrate and aluminum) and emulsion explosives.
