Numerical Simulations of Shaped Charge Effects Underwater

Behavior of shaped charges effects underwater is simulated using AUTODYN-2D hydrocode. Based on simulations and comparison of the characteristic of crateriation among several shaped charges, a kind of shaped charge with the eccentric sub-hemisphere liner forming the jetting penetrator is put forward. The above mentioned shaped charge will produce precursor-follow effects underwater, so its penetration performance are superior to jet and EFP. Numerical simulations also show that the liner thickness has remarkable influence on the initial velocity and penetration ability of the jetting penetrator in water.
