The total and leachable concentrations of antimony were studied in 31 Swedish incinerator ashes. It was found that antimony was enriched in the fly ashes due to volafilisation during combustion and that high total concentrations were related to the fuel mix. Waste containing for instance plastics gave highest concentrations in the ashes. However, high total concentrations were not related to the leachable concentrations at all. A maximum of 1% of the total concentrations were leached at L/S 10. The leachability of antimony seems to he related to the dissolution of ettringite.
