A process was conceived and implemented to evaluate soil gas at a former MGP located in Columbia, South Carolina to assess potential risk scenarios related to anticipated property redevelopment. The process relied on screening existing soil and groundwater data to indoor air quality standards, selection of COI, and implementing soil gas sampling at multiple depths. Sampling at multiple depths was performed since future redeveloped Site use is currently unknown. Soil gas sampling utilized Summa canisters and PUF/XAD cartridges for TO-15 and TO-13 parameters, respectively. The data was used to prepare a quantitative risk assessment based on the multiple sample depths which provides latitude in assessing a range of redevelopment alternatives. In addition, naphthalene results from Summa canisters and PUF/XAD cartridges are compared.
