Benchmarking a Confined Spaces Program Using the Z117.1 American National Standard, and Benchmarking a Fall Protection Program Using the Z359.1 American National Standard

While the use of National consensus standards is voluntary, they provide a sound framework for addressing specific issues. Two of these standards that I will discuss are the ANSI Z117.1, Safety Requirements for Confined Spaces, and ANSI Z359.1, Personal Fall Arrest systems, Subsystems and Components. The focus of this discussion will be how to use these standards and the principles they contain to develop confined space programs and fall protection programs respectively.
