Combining Critical Theory With Empirical Studies In IS Research Using Adorno's 'Critical Modelling' Approach

This paper considers the theoretical relationship between critical theory and empirical research work. A new model for IS research - encompassing both critical and empirical facets of IS research - is developed. It is concluded that the development and refinement of such critical models (which can, again be informed by empirical studies) is an important challenge for the critical IS researcher.
