摘要

Quantification of D2EHP and M2EHP as accurately as possible is extremely imperative in the ultimate solvent synthesis as they are important intermediates in synthesis of various organophosphorous metal extractants which find extensive application in extractive metallurgical and nuclear industries. The acidobasic titrimetric estimation of D2EHP containing low percentage of M2EHP in ethanol was studied using visual color indicator. In an alcoholic caustic solution mono-2-ethylhexyl phosphite and di-2-ethylhexyl phosphite are neutralized to form sodium mono-2-ethylhexyl phosphite and sodium di-2-ethylhexyl phosphite at different pH. Therefore the quantities of M2EHP and D2EHP could be estimated by using different color indicators viz. Bromocresol Purple(BCP) and Phenolphthalien.
