In order to explain the wide variety of wave shapes and impedance patterns in humans, a reduced model of the human arterial system is proposed. As opposed to T-Tube models constructed for other species, in this modified T-Tube model of the human arterial tree the lower element of the T further bifurcates into two circulations, one to the splanchnic bed and the other to the lower limb. This model accurately reproduced experimental findings and can be used to obtain realistic impedance patterns and possible stroke volumes from measurements of arterial pressure waveforms along the tree.
