Through research and development of single wind turbine, tackling key problems and demonstrations, China marches in the van of both product development and extensive utilization worldwide. At present, wind turbines with capacity from 100 W to 10 kW can be produced in batches. In fact, there are around 28 million people lived at remote rural areas and isles still without electricity, but the wind resources is rich at these regions and along coastline. From this point, the application of wind power generation possesses great significance to solve the electricity requirement for farmers and herdsmen and fishermen in these places. This paper presents Chinese wind resources, present status and future prospect of grid-off wind turbines industry, technical features and technological import conditions of wind turbines. The analysis about the market potential at home and abroad, the existing issues during the development of this industry, as well as many proposals for future utilization of wind energy are also given in this paper.
