摘要

The development of novel steels with superior resistance to CO_2 corrosion using metallurgical conditioning is presented in this paper. It introduces the outcome of an extensive and systematic study looking at the influence of a wide range of alloying elements on the CO_2 corrosion behaviour of low carbon steels. Microalloying elements have successfully been used to substantially improve CO_2 corrosion resistance of these steels containing small amounts of chromium. The paper presents details of alloy compositions, mechanical treatments and corrosion testing. The outcome is a major development and influential in the production of steels with superior corrosion resistance for oilfield applications.
