Quality Control Activities in NALCO Alumina Refinery Plant

Alumina is an intermediate product obtained from the bauxite for production of aluminium. Quality control and process monitoring in an alumina refinery has come to mean a variety of analytical checks. Alumina plant broadly consists of a bauxite processing plant and a steam generation plant which of late is a co-generation power plant. Till date in India the alumina process technology is imported know how and the power/steam plant is supplied by reputed Indian firms. The job of integrating chemical control laboratories for both units has to be carried out by the owner industry. This paper discusses the quality control activities as practiced at NALCO Alumina refinery plant.
