Problems of dynamics in structural design for large hydro-generator-units are discussed. For vertical shaft units, methods of modeling and dynamic response estimation, distinguishing from traditional methods in rotor dynamics, are presented. Evaluation criteria in design stage for vibration stability of units are recommended. Finally, an example of engineering application is given.
