The contribution presents an analysis fo the current situation for the management of plant information in the operation phase of power plants. An evaluation of the suitability of the STEP data model standardized in ISO10303 is given with respect to both, the exchange and the consistent integration of plant information. Finally an approach is presented for an adequate and stepwise employment of the STEP data model, including the further need for standardization fo data models.
