During high-speed anodizing large amount of heat must be dispersed. Active movement of the acidic solution toward the surface of the work piece allows anodizing at very high current densities. Incorporation of anions into the oxide film results is loss of technical properties. Addition of other acids or inorganic compounds counteracts to some degree the loss of coating functionality. High-speed anodizing using pulse modulated current makes it possible to achieve oxide coatings of high technical quality without addition of other components to sulfuric acid. Furthermore under optimal current designs, extremely high formation rates can be achieved.
