ProCAP - An Automated Software System for Process Capability Analysis

Process capability analysis is defined as an engineering study to estimate the ability of a process to meet engineering specifications. Due to the diversity in process distributions, design specifications, and inclusion of random factor variations, various measures of process capability have been proposed over the years, usually with different mathematical symbols and inconsistent terminology. Though very useful, incorrect application of these measures or inaccurate analysis of the results they provide could result in major problems such as ****. To this end the development of a unified system for the selection and analysis of process capability results would be imminent. In this paper, an automated process capability advisory software system called ProCAP is developed. The developed system helps in choosing the correct capability index according to the given process characteristics and provides suggestions based on the calculated index.
