The transformation kinetics of powder compacts that are designed with different levels of porosity and made from FL-4605 is characterized using high speed quench dilatometer. The samples are pre conditioned to remove the residual stresses and ensured uniform microstructure before performing dilatometry test. The austenitizing time was kept constant for all measurements in order to ensure a consistent austenite grain size in the samples. Interpretation of the dilatometry measurements and construction of isothermal transformation and continuous cooling diagram for this P/M alloy is described in this article.
