Role appropriate apparel can influence the impression of the self formed by both the self and others and thereby influence role enactment. This study investigated apparel in relation to the role of college teaching assistant (TA), and culminated in a line of professional garments congruent with the special needs of women who are both students and teachers. A research-based functional design methodology wasu sed. Data were collected by observing TAs in the classroom, distributing questionnaires to TAs and their undergraduate students, and interviewing supervisors of the TAs.
