How I treat cushing's disease

Equine Cushing's disease is almost always the result of an adenoma of the pars intermedia of the pituitary gland. Dysfunction of this gland may cause increased plasma concentrations of glucocorticoids, adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and proopiomelanocortin-derived peptides. Clinical signs most commonly result from increased concentrations of these hormones but may occur from the physical pressure of the adenoma.
