ROLE OF FDG PET IN CANCER DETECTION

FDG PET is highly sensitive and reasonably specific for a variety of tumors. With the new emergence of relatively low-cost equipment for coincidence imaging, the use of FDG PET in nuclear oncology will grow in the near future. FDG PET will emerge as a highly accurate and cost-effective imaging tool with an important impact on the clinical management of patients with cancer.
