Initial Growth of Ground Cover and Trees on Acid Minesoils Treated with Wet Flue Gas Desulfurization Byproducts, Sewage Sludge, and Borrow Soil

All amendment treatments except sewage sludge alone were effective in decreasing soil acidity within the zone of amendment incorporation. After two years, there was vigorous herbaceous cover on all treatments. During both years, herbaceous biomass was greatest for plots receiving Conesville FGD with sewage sludge. Initial tree survival was promising on all soil amendment treatments.
