13.4: Analysis and Control of Extraordinary Domains in Wide-Viewing-Angle In-Plane-Switching Mode TFT-LCDs

We have found that extraordinary domains that appear around the bottom edges of driving electrodes and grow forward to the central area degrade the picture quality and reliability of in-plane-switching mode TFT-LCDs. We have made physical analysis on such domains, and shown an effective method for preventing them with a novel electrode design.
