Traditional teaching methods are not very efficient in training the students for problem solving. Hence, alternative teaching and learning methods are employed to achieve this goal more efficiently. In this study, the effectiveness of the group brainstorming technique was investigated on the “Introduction to Chemical Engineering” course. The study was carried out in three cycles - a pre-cycle, followed by two cycles. From the results of the quizzes and my observations, it can be seen that the technique had success in achieving the outcome. A questionnaire was used to gather feedback from the students on their experience of the group brainstorming. Results showed that the students were also happy with this approach and found it to be useful in helping them to solve problems.
