This paper has been made and attempt to know the motivational and attitutional pattern of tribals towards education & Career. The Indian Constitution assigns special status to the tribals as scheduled Tribe. Education has till to play a significant role in the overall development of the poor people and specially among the poor tribal population of India where there is high droput and low participation rates which is again gender sensitive. The impact of tribal education policy after independence can neither be said to be much satisfactory nor can't it be taken to be very disappointing.Traditional attitude of tribals doesn't fostering desire to approach formal education system. Because they have had attitude that formal education is futile exercise which could not help them to survive.Kokna - Kokni is one of the principal tribe in Maharashtra and Gujrat states in the country. Total population of Kokna - Kokni is around seven lakhs and fifty thousand. Of them around 5,50,000 Kokna - Kokni people are living in Maharashtra, one of the largest & progressive state. The literacy rate at educational & non - educational level is very poor among Kokna people. Being inspired by the different Government agencies male & female school going percentage is 29.05 and 10.62% respectively and literacy percentage is 19.94% as per 1991 census report.The study is conducted in Nashik and Dhule districts of Maharashtra state. Total sample coverage was 360 respondents. Of them 225 were household heads, 90 matriculating students and 45 were Teachers.Results and discussion on the study were mainly made on Expected level of education by parents and students, Attitude of household & student respondents towards education & future career, Expected place for education and future living, forms of motivating children for education, Attitude of students towards education, Motivation among students for education, Difficulties faced by student respondents in studying various subjects, Teachers perception regarding attitude of tribal parents towards school & functioning of school and education etc.
