In this study, various dosages of Erythropoietin (EPO) were incorporated into the electrospun polyurethane (PU) nanofibrous patch in order to evaluate its potential as a controlled drug delivery device. For this aim, PU was dissolved in N, N-Dimethylformamide (DMF) to obtain 10 %w/v solution and three different amounts of EPO (0.02, 0.04 and 0.08 percent of PU) were incorporated into the solutions separately, and electrospun. The smooth bead-free nanofibers with diameter in range of 187 nm to 242 nm containing EPO was obtained. During the period of release study, the sustain release of 0.02 % EPO was observed and also it was seen that increase in EPO release amount resulted from increasing in EPO concentration. The used PU in this study has hydrophobic nature unlike the EPO drug which caused the migration of EPO to the surface of the fibers. Increased contact angle in patch containing maximum amount of EPO (i.e.0.08%) compared to other patches confirms this phenomenon.
