Random numbers are currently being used in a wide range of applications; hence there is a need for methods to generate them in a cost effective and flexible way. Current implementations involving physical phenomenon as in true random number generators (TRNGs) and computer algorithms as in pseudo-random number generators (PRNGs), when used individually or in combination, provide random sequences but with inflexible approaches and higher cost factors. This paper aims at combining the advantages of both the random number generators (RNG) to overcome their limitations. The study proposes a method of providing random sequences with the help of neuro-signals, extracted using a low resolution, inexpensive and portable Electroencephalogram (EEG) device. The raw EEG signals do not pass the standard randomness test suites and thus cannot be used directly. Hence, this paper proposes a novel approach of transforming the raw EEG signals to random sequences, emulating a TRNG, whose output can then be used as seeds to drive a PRNG. The obtained numbers passed the standard randomness test suites.
