This paper describes a solution for the catenary mooring system applied on sinking installation of the pre-assembling offshore wind turbines (POWT) with gravity base foundations. The offshore wind turbines, which pre-assemble concrete caisson gravity foundations with towers and turbines onshore, are adopted float towing for transportation and sinking installation. In sinking installation, the center of buoyancy and gravity meeting will lead the righting moment losing and the POWT capsizing in slight environmental loading such as wind, current and waves. To avoid and control this risk, a temporal mooring system is needed. A simplified and feasible mooring solution is suggested. A demonstrated case study at Taiwan West Coast illustrates that the proposed the multi-leg mooring system with appropriated parameters, such as the total chain length, the maximum tension of the chain, the fixed position and the tension of the mooring point during the sinking installation and verified by the catenary mooring theory.
